At last! I have something worth to blog about. *wink*
As a kick start, let me ask you one question. What comes to your mind if you heard the word 'choir'?
As for me, whenever I heard the word 'choir', the first thing that comes to my mind is the image of a group of people singing in unison and harmony (i.e. division of voice).
What I want to share with you today has something to do with choir.
Just so you know, I wouldn't be able to watch the extraordinary performance at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Chancellor Hall on the 5th December if a friend (whom regarded himself as Mr. Whimsical and I don't know why...) didn't offer me a free ticket to that show. Mr. Whimsical if you are reading this, thank you kio! Wait a sec. Did they even bother to check the ticket when we entered the hall? Hmm. Whatever.
Alright. Back to the topic. The choir was unlike any other choir performance that I've ever seen before. The group that performed that night named themselves as Carmina Slovenica Choir. Go Google it if you want to know more about them.
" The vocal ensemble Carmina Slovenica with its artistic director Karmina Šilec is noted for its innovative programming which explores works from the forefronts of the contemporary music scene. With »Choregie – vocal theatre or theatre of voices« Carmina Slovenica is introducing a concept which incorporates contemporary music, drama, movement and other stage elements.[Source: http://www.zbor-carmina-slovenica.si/index.php?id=149&L=1] "
I was astonished by their performance. Simply mesmerizing eventhough I didn't manage to comprehend the whole performance due to language barrier. For your information throughout the whole show (well, most of it) they sang in foreign language (not English of course). Only at the end of the performance they sang in English. It was probably two or three songs. I couldn't really recall. Nevertheless, the performance was awesome! It was theatrical. Not to forget, their costume and the lighting contributed to the 'wow' factor of the show. I was totally amazed. I actually have few recordings of the show with me but the file size was too big (in GB mind you) but no worries because the group has numerous videos uploaded in YouTube. So, you can go and have a look. You might be amazed by their wonderful and artistic performance.
Take a look at these videos of their performance.
